Tongue Scraper
Yoga isn't just about practicing asanas and drinking green juice every day. Yoga is the practice of treating the body as a temple, and taking care to nurture yourself in ways that prevent disease, and detoxify the mind, body, and spirit to reach higher levels of awareness and purity. Ayurveda is the science of life, which has been practiced for over 5,000 years. In an ideal Ayurvedic world, we'd all be eating food, living in places, and engaging in practices designed to support our specific and unique doshas. One daily Ayurvedic ritual is tongue scraping. Did you know that bacteria, viruses, and even fungus can collect on the tongue? Yeah, we just gagged too.
The tongue is connected to many vital organs including the heart, kidneys, liver, lungs, spleen, and stomach. Tongue scraping once a day significantly decreases toxin build-up, and can help those prone to throat viruses like Strep and Tonsillitis. Other benefits include clearing dead cells from the tongue to prevent bad breath, enhancing the sense of taste, promoting overall oral and digestive health, stimulating internal organs, and improving digestion.
This reusable copper / stainless steel tongue scraper is made to last. Ideally, it is best to scrape your tongue first thing in the morning upon rising, on an empty stomach. Hold the ends of the scraper in both hands, stick out your tongue, and place the curve of the tongue cleaner at the back of the tongue. Mindfully and gently apply pressure to the tongue and slide the scraper forward. Rise and repeat 4-5 times, then run the scraper under hot water to clean before your next use!
