Plastic Free Reusable Razor
OKAY. Let's have this talk. First things first, ditch your cringe disposable razors that are filling every landfill known to Earth, and beaches all over the beautiful island of Bali. Yes, some razor you used in 2014 is probably chilling on Balian Beach, halfway cross the globe by now, all because plastic doesn't break down for 200+ years. Is it impressive that it managed not to get eaten by a shark on its way there? Perhaps. But what's more impressive is that we're still using plastic razors when we have more a sustainable solution: Enter, this zinc alloy and brass reusable razor & stand.
I was skeptical when I first started using a plastic-free razor, and switching from the blades I was used to using, but these stainless steel blades work just as well, if not better, and they're easy to change out. Now we'll be honest, this product isn't 100% zero waste. At some point, you will have to swap out the stainless steel blades, BUT they are 100% recyclable, and the blades are small compared to big plastic cartages that other razors require.
I recommend that when not using your razor, you store it on a stand, away from moisture to keep the razor from rusting. This will help keep your razor - and you - looking sexy.
Tips on how to recycle your blades:
- Collect your aluminum and stainless steel waste as required. In most communities, you can simply stow small pieces in a reusable tote for the trip to the recycling facility. If you are required to bundle the metals, separate aluminum from stainless steel; flatten cans as much as possible.
- Transport your metals to the nearest recycling facility, and deposit them in the appropriate bin.
